About the Practice

Ms. Amber’s Class is a teaching practice and program studio creating original learning experiences across ages, subjects, and settings.

A classroom is the temporary learning environment created around an encounter.

That idea sits underneath the practice. A classroom does not have to be a room, and curriculum is more than a stack of lessons. People, place, materials, questions, movement, conversation, and time can all become part of the learning environment.

Ms. Amber’s Class designs those conditions deliberately. The curriculum provides the architecture. Teaching brings it into motion. The people and place give each installation its particular life.

The Work

Some works unfold as courses or series. Others are complete standalone experiences. The catalogue moves across early learning, literacy, humanities, formation, and community work, but the method remains recognizable: begin with something worth encountering, then build the conditions in which people can investigate it, respond to it, and do something with what they have learned.

A work can return without becoming identical. The same architecture may be installed in a park, a church, a school, a residential community, or another setting and respond to the people and place without losing what makes the work itself.

The Studio

Alongside its self-initiated body of work, Ms. Amber’s Class works with organizations that have a population, place, purpose, problem, or possibility worth building a learning experience around.

An organization may book existing work, commission something original, host a sustained residency, or license selected curriculum. The organization commissioning the work and the people experiencing it do not have to be the same people.
